Gavin Crotty on the Ball

Despite the gap in standards between division 1 and Division 4 teams, it was a special football occasion at the Fraher Field last Saturday in the All Ireland qualifiers.

Spectators enjoying the game on the  bank side of the grounds

The club was especially proud to have four players on the field at one stage  with Gavin Crotty and Kieran Power starting and Joe Allen and Michael Kiely being introduced during the second half.

Joe Allen

From a local point of view it was great to see the famed venue house such a big attendance and to see supporters from both Counties enjoy the occasion from the bank opposite the stand.

Gavin Crotty and Kieran Power.

This was always going to be a difficult game for the Deise. The aim remains to gain promotion from Division 4 and hopefully our own four players will be involved again when the National league come around.

Michael Kiely and Joe Allen.

A goal by John Paul Lucey of the Shamrocks helped the Deise to a 1-8 to 0-8 half time advantage. UNDER 14 FOOTBALLERS GREAT EFFORT

SAINT SAVIOURS 3-6 DUNGARVAN 3-3

Our under 14 footballers put in a great effort in the County final against St. Saviours in Walsh Park last on Saturday before losing out to the city side who dominated the second half.

Michael Burke defending well

Playing with the wind in the first half, we led at half time by 3-2 to 1-1 with our goals being scored by Kyle Healy and Fionn Nagle (2).

Kyle Healy on the Move

We played really well in that first half, defending and tackling but we kicked costly wides and didn’t take all of our scoring opportunities. Our goalie Darragh Healy made a great save just before half time.

Team Manager Chris McGovern Issuing Instructions

It was a different story in the second half as we scored just 0-1f by Mark Loftus before Saviours took over with the wind at their backs. Under constant pressure we conceded 2-5 to leave us a goal behind at the final whistle.

Mark Loftus Take on the Saviours Defence

Congratulations to St. Saviours on their win and well done to our boys on this gallant display who along with their mentors have given us some great games of football this year.
